How to Use the Steam Level Calculator
The calculator applies Steam's rules to show how much XP you're missing for your target level, how many trading card sets that takes, and what the new level unlocks. Four steps:
- Enter your current Steam level: it's shown on your Steam profile and on your Badges page. The calculator counts from the start of that level.
- Enter your target level or pick one under "Quick target". You can change both numbers with the − and + buttons, and the calculator shows Steam's official badges for these levels.
- Check the results: card sets, missing XP, the XP progress bar and what changes on your profile. To share a calculation, copy the page address: it keeps your levels.
- Click "Buy card sets" or "Buy foil card sets" to open the level-up bot's profile. For an exact count for your profile that skips badges you've already crafted, send the bot
!check X, where X is your target level.
Which Badge the Calculator Shows: New Color Every 10 Levels, New Shape Every 100
Steam shows a badge next to your level. Up to level 99 it's a circle whose border changes color every 10 levels. From level 100 the circle becomes a shape, a different one for each hundred: a hexagon for 100–199, a shield for 200–299, a book for 300–399 and so on. Within each hundred the badge also changes every 10 levels.
Circle colors by tens: 0–9 gray, 10–19 red, 20–29 orange, 30–39 yellow, 40–49 green, 50–59 blue, 60–69 purple, 70–79 pink, 80–89 dark maroon, 90–99 tan.
The calculator shows Steam's official badges for your current and target levels. Steam has badges up to the 6100–6199 tier, a crown; for higher levels the calculator shows the crown too. Every badge from level 0 to 6100 is on one page: Steam Level Badges.
All Steam level badges: 0–6100
Worked Examples: Card Sets to Level 10, 50 and 100
Every 10 Steam levels, each level costs 100 XP more: levels 1–10 cost 100 XP each, 11–20 cost 200 XP each, 21–30 cost 300 XP each, and so on. From level 0 that adds up to 1,000 XP for level 10, 15,000 XP for level 50 and 55,000 XP for level 100.
One card set crafts one badge level worth 100 XP, so the number of sets is the missing XP divided by 100, rounded up. A regular badge can be crafted at most five times per game, so you need at least as many different games as sets divided by 5.
From your current level, take the difference: level 50 to 100 is 55,000 − 15,000 = 40,000 XP, or 400 sets from at least 80 different games.
The table shows popular targets from level 0; expand the full XP table under it for every level from 1 to 120. To buy sets and craft badges, see Steam Level Up. The full table up to level 6100 is on the Steam XP Table page.

Steam Level Rewards: Friend Slots, Showcases, Booster Packs
According to Steam's help pages, your level gives three perks, and the calculator shows them for your current and target levels:
- +5 friend slots per level: the base limit is 250 and the maximum is 2,000, reached at level 350.
- Profile showcases: the first at level 10, then one more every 10 levels, up to 20 for now (at level 200). A showcase bought in the Steam Points Shop is added on top of the maximum.
- +20% booster pack drop rate every 10 levels, double at level 50. A booster pack holds three random cards from a game, not a full set.
- On top of level perks, every badge you craft gives a random emoticon and profile background from that game.
Other Ways to Earn Steam XP and Limited Accounts
Card badges aren't the only source of XP. The Game Collector badge grows on its own with the games in your library, Years of Service grows with your account's age, and Steam sales and events often have badges of their own. That XP counts toward your level too, so if you earn some while leveling up, you'll need fewer sets than the calculator showed. To add games for the Game Collector badge, see Steam Library Boost. All 48 Game Collector tiers and the number of games each one takes are listed on the Steam Game Collector badge page.
A limited user account (less than $5 USD spent in the Steam store) can't gain levels: Steam keeps it at level 0. The limit is lifted by spending at least $5 in the Steam store or adding $5 or more to your Steam Wallet; gifts you receive and games activated with a key don't count.
